FAQ about Therapy
Do you accept insurance?
I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO plans, Aetna, and United Healthcare (Optum). For those needing to pay out of pocket. I charge $180 per 55 minute session.
If you have questions about coverage or payment, feel free to ask when you reach out.
Do you have immediate availability?
We have limited availability and will do our best to accommodate your schedule so please don't hesitate to reach out.
Do you have evening & weekend hours?
Yes, we have hours during the mornings, early afternoons, evenings and Sunday nights.
Do you offer a consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 20 minute consultation to help determine whether working together feels like a good fit. This is a chance to ask questions and talk through what you’re looking for in therapy.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Many people come to therapy feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what they need. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Therapy can be helpful if you’re experiencing ongoing stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, or difficulty navigating a life transition—and are open to reflection and change.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of how I work. We’ll discuss your goals, relevant history, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with, and we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable.
How often do sessions take place?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though frequency can shift over time depending on goals, progress, and availability. We’ll talk together about what makes the most sense for you.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies. Some clients work with me for a shorter period focused on a specific transition or concern, while others choose longer-term therapy to address ongoing patterns or stressors. We’ll revisit goals periodically and adjust as needed.
Do you work with couples if only one partner is ready?
Yes. It’s common for partners to feel differently about starting therapy. We can talk through next steps and what might be most helpful given your situation.
Do you work with parents of children with special needs?
Yes. I work with parents navigating the emotional, relational, and practical demands of raising a child with special needs, including chronic stress, advocacy fatigue, and balancing caregiving with personal well-being.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. I only offer telehealth sessions for Illinois residents. We do not currently offer in-person sessions.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential within the limits of the law. I’m happy to answer any questions you have about confidentiality and its limits during our first conversation.
What if I’m in crisis?
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 for immediate support.
How do I get started?
You can reach out through the contact form, email, or phone. I typically respond within 1–2 business days to discuss next steps.
